Hoping For The Best

Sorry for the lack of pictures this past week.  My school has been involved in statewide testing and it's just basically been bonkers around here.  To add insult to serious injury, when I turned on my laptop on Friday night it started to act funky and then proceeded to display what Dan called "the blue screen of death."  Let's just say things aren't looking so good for my little computer.  He's going to work on this weekend and hopefully revive it.  I'll be back to posting ASAP.

Book Nook

Each month Lorelai has a family project that she has to do for school.  The first project of the school year was to create a "book nook" so that each child would have a quiet place to go and read each day.  Lorelai's closet served as the perfect locale for this nook.  This proves to be a favorite reading spot for all of the members of our family.

A Breakfast To Remember

On Saturday Lorelai and I went to the Character Breakfast sponsored by the South Carolina Children's Theatre.  It was a morning filled with fabulous food and a fun character parade.  When the parade was finished, the crowd was given the opportunity to wander around and take pictures with/talk to all of the characters.  It was Lorelai's mini-version of Disney World and you've never seen a happier little girl!

All dressed up as Cinderella.

Enjoying the remnants of my coffee.

Telling me to be quiet because the parade was about to begin.
Now onto the fun part...the characters.  Here she is with Ariel.
Chatting with Sleeping Beauty.

She loved Stuart Little so much she had to go by and get pictures with him twice.
Eeyore is her favorite "Winnie the Pooh" character.

Meeting Belle.

Holding Rapunzel's hand.
Luckily we saw Snow White and Tiana toward the end of the morning so the lines were gone.

Two Cinderellas and Prince Charming.

The Things That Matter

My children don't sleep through the night even at 3 and 5. They don't eat many vegetables.  They probably watch too much TV. And they aren't reading chapter books by age 5. They can't recite all the states or presidents.

But they are happy.

And funny.

And kind.
 And they love Jesus.

And these are the things that matter to me.

Cousins at Chuck E. Cheese

Last week our nephew, William, was in town and we all made a trip to Chuck E. Cheese so that the cousins could spend some time together.  When they hang out it's like they've never been apart.

I got a few pictures of the two oldest while Miller hit the game room.

Miller wanted to make sure he got to sit in William's lap for the pictures.
I took this one so that's why the angle is somewhat distorted.
Miller actually participating in dancing and games with Chuck E. Cheese.  He insisted that Dan stand right beside him the whole time.

Just Like Another Lorelai

In an episode of "Gilmore Girls," Lorelai explains why she loves the snow so much and thinks that each time it snows it is a special gift for her.  She was sick and stuck in the bed for days on end and she wished for something magical to happen.  She woke up to a lawn covered in snow and felt that it had been sent just for her.

Today it was raining outside and Lorelai and Miller got all bundled up and headed out to brave the elements.  Lorelai explained that she was going outside to wait for the snow.  Sure enough, in less than five minutes, snow flurries started to fall.  How's that for an eerie coincidence between two girls named Lorelai?
