So Concise, Yet So True

Never before has a captioned cartoon so perfectly summed up a person...me!

Pomp and Circumstance

Yesterday Lorelai graduated from K-5.  She has had her graduation dress picked out for weeks, and since they didn't wear caps and gowns she got to show it off throughout the whole ceremony.

Here's our sweet girl before we headed off to St. Mary's Catholic School for the last time.  Doesn't she look the picture of the focused academic?
Make no mistake though...the sassy girl we know and love lurked just under the exterior.
Each student got a goodie bag ~ complete with a video yearbook ~ a graduation balloon, and had their self-portrait displayed which they got to take home, as well.
Receiving her graduation certificate from Sr. Mary John.
 The proud graduate.  Congratulations, Lorelai!!!

Miller's New Love

Even though Miller won a brand new bicycle at a Halloween carnival, I think he has only ridden it a handful of times.  His newest obsession, especially now that the weather is getting warmer, is his scooter.  He rides around on that thing like nobody's business and even does some one-legged tricks.

Rock-a-Doodle

For Christmas my brother and his wife gave Lorelai a rock decorating kit.  We opened it over Spring Break and she a great time with her geological creations.

A Special Day for a Special Girl

Yesterday Lorelai and I took a day trip down to Atlanta.  We went to lunch with my mom and then the two of us headed to North Point Commons for some shopping.

First stop on the list was riding the carousel.  She's been wanting to ride it since we were there during the winter.  She climbed onto the tiger first, but decided that the horse next to it was a better choice.

The best part of the day was going shopping at American Girl.  They had a photo booth where pictures could be made with Saige ~ "The Girl of the Year" ~ in a hot air balloon.
Lorelai chose to add Julie to her American Girl collection.  Her name has since been changed to Lorelai Catherine Jacob.
Our final two stops were at Haagen Dazs for a mango sorbet and Disney Store.  This was one happy girl!

Maria's Birthday Rodeo

A few weekends ago Miller and Lorelai went to their friend, Maria's, cowgirl birthday party.  Miller has been dying to go horseback riding for ages and this party was the perfect opportunity to let him try.

Checking out the horses before the party got started.

Have you ever seen two more adorable ranch hands?

Giving the horses a brush in the stables.
Miller was totally at home once he hit the saddle.

Lorelai had a great time, too.

More From the Animal Kingdom

On Saturday Lorelai went to a birthday party for one of her classmates.  The theme was animals and the Critter Kepper was there.  He is awesome!

Since we were the first guests to arrive we were privy to a special pre-show.  Lorelai kind of stayed huddled on the patio couch for the first several minutes.
Eventually she warmed up to the critters and moved toward the edge.
One of the animals that could be handled was a scorpion.   The first time Lorelai was in line she decided not to hold it.  Her second try was very successful.
She was rewarded with a round of applause and a special sticker.
I wanted a sticker too, so I got in on the fun.
The last friend to come out was Julius Squeezer.  Here's Lorelai's reaction when she first laid eyes on him.
Me and Julius.  Say, "Squeeze!"

Bird Watching

Lorelai's class has been hatching chicks.  They got the eggs about a month ago and then the week before last three of the eggs hatched.  This past week each child had a chance to hold one of the chicks.  Here is Lorelai with Little Flower.

Dance Like No One's Watching

There's a saying that states you should "dance like no one's watching."  In other words, be carefree and feel free to be yourself.  Lorelai totally embraces this concept and definitely has no inhibitions.  She's always been that way and I hope it never changes.
